Iglesia y catolicismo en la Argentina. Medio siglo de historiografía

Abstract

The article provides an overview of the development of historiography concerning the Catholic Church of Argentina since the 1960’s. The authors have paid particular attention to changes that were introduced in the perspectives and methods from the 1980s onwards, when the Catholic Church and Catholicism began to be valued as an object of study in the academic field and analyzed according to a method excluding religion. The text is divided into two parts: the first one is devoted to studies of colonial history and the nineteenth century, and the second one to the twentieth century.

El artículo ofrece una idea general del desarrollo de la historiografía referida a la Iglesia Católica argentina desde mediados de la década de 1960. Los autores han prestado particular atención a los cambios que se introdujeron en las perspectivas y métodos a partir de la década de 1980, cuando la Iglesia Católica y el catolicismo comenzaron a ser valorados como objetos de estudio por el campo académico y analizados desde una lógica ajena a la religión. El texto se ha dividido en dos partes: la primera está dedicada a los estudios de historia colonial y del siglo XIX y la segunda a los del siglo XX.
