La hermenéutica del Concilio Vaticano II

Abstract

La centralidad del corpus documental del Concilio Vaticano II hace igualmente central su interpretación. La interpretación de los concilios precedentes, desde la exacta contraposición con el error que querían rechazar, resulta inaplicable en el caso del Vaticano II. Su peculiar fisonomía pide una hermenéutica y unos criterios formales propios: la atención a la historia del texto; su consideración como textos de un único sujeto magisterial; la necesidad de articular la continuidad y la novedad, en el contexto del desarrollo dogmático tradicional.

The centrality of the Second Vatican Council’s documental corpus causes its interpretation to be of the greatest importance. The interpretation of the previous councils, focused on an exact contraposition with the errors they wanted to reject, is not applicable in the case of Vatican II. Its peculiar physiognomy demands its own hermeneutics and formal principles: paying attention to the history of the text; considering the texts as coming from a single magisterial subject; the need of articulating continuity and novelty in the context of the traditional dogmatic development.
