La Iglesia católica en México desde sus historiadores (1960-2010)

Abstract

El texto aborda de manera detallada las diversas tradiciones, consagradas y laicas, que han predominado en la historiografía sobre la Iglesia católica en México. Se efectúa un recuento de las historiografías, publicadas por diferentes autores, para no ignorar los esfuerzos realizados para sistematizar las trayectorias de los estudios sobre la Iglesia. Para facilitar el análisis y comprensión de las publicaciones de los últimos 50 años, la narrativa se articuló en torno a ejes, tanto temáticos como cronológicos. Esa metodología permitió presentar los avances historiográficos, del siglo xvi al xxi, y las grandes lagunas que todavía existen.

This paper discusses in detail the various traditions, both clerical and secular, that have dominated the historiography of the Catholic Church in Mexico. The text does recount the historiographies published by different authors, to underline the efforts to systematize the studies on the Catholic Church. To facilitate the analysis and understanding of the publications of the last 50 years, the narrative is articulated around axes, both thematic and chronological. This methodology allowed presenting the historiographical advances, between the 16th century to the 21st century, and the large gaps that still exist.
