Íconos: Arte y Teología

Abstract

El texto que sigue plantea una reflexión en torno al cruce entre los ámbitos del arte y la teología. La reflexión en cuestión será guiada por un análisis de algunos aspectos históricos, pictóricos y teológicos de la tradición de los íconos. De este modo, descubriremos que la tradición en cuestión encuentra su fundamento en el acontecimiento histórico de la Encarnación otorgándole a este hecho central de la revelación cristiana, por su parte, una dimensión eminentemente estética.

This article presents a reflection on the intersection of the fields of art and theology, based on an analysis of some historical, pictorial and theological aspects of the icon painting tradition. We show that the icon painting tradition finds its basis in the historical event of the Incarnation, imbuing this fundamental event in Christian Revelation with a profound aesthetic dimension.
