San Juan de la Cruz en los límites del lenguaje

Abstract

Tal vez la gran paradoja del místico, que es la del marginal que se va haciendo central y determinante a lo largo de nuestra tradición poética, sólo se entienda a partir del borde, límite o abismo en donde la palabra del místico y del poeta se constituyen por igual. Porque la palabra poética es una palabra radical, sometida a la tensión de un riesgo constante, y fuera de esa radicalidad no existe. La palabra que entra en la noche, donde se celebra la unión sin fin del deseo y de su objeto, contiene ya, en los límites de su ambigüedad, todas las formas posibles. The great paradox of the mystic is that of a marginal figure which gradually becomes a central factor as the Spanish poetic tradition develops. It may perhaps only be comprehensible form the edge, the frontier, or the abyss where the speech of the mystic and of the poet are equally constituted. This is because poetic diction is a radical diction, subject to the tension of constant risk, and outside this radical existence it has no other. Speech that goes out into the night, where the endless union of desire and the object of that desire takes place, already contains, within the limits of its ambiguity, all possible forms.
