Purísima 3: un ejemplo de villa periurbana en "Valentia"

Abstract

Este artículo tiene como objetivo mostrar los restos inéditos de un espacio doméstico situado en los suburbia de Valentia, a menos de 1 km del pomoerium, de características únicas en la ciudad. Se trata de una serie de estancias pavimentadas con mosaicos de opus tessellatum, decorados con motivos geométricos y vegetales bícromos de gran calidad. Destaca la presencia de un peristilo trapezoidal como espacio redistribuidor. En suma, se trata de un interesante ejemplo de arquitectura privada periurbana, cuya situación responde al desarrollo de los suburbia, poco estudiados en el ámbito valenciano.

This paper aims to show the inedit rests of a suburban domestic space found in Valentia, 1 km from the pomoerium, with unique characteristics in the city. It has a serie of different rooms, paved with mosaics of opus tesellatum decorated with bichromatic geometric and vegetables motives, which show the richness of the owner. There is a trapezoidal peristil with a planter in one of the sides, which confirms the hypothesis of a mediterranean villa. To sum up, it is an interesting example of suburban private architecture. In addition, is one of the first studies in the models of development of the suburbs in valencian territory.
