This is an analysis of Peirce's theory of the three types of reasoning as ex-plained in his 1877 essay "Deduction, Induction, and Hypothesis", which is representative of his earlier views on this subject. Hypothesis –which la-ter would become his abduction or retroduction– and induction are conside-red variants of probable syllogisms of the second and third figures. Specific attention is devoted to similarities and differences between induction and hypothesis.es_ES
