Abstract
Ventura de la Vega (Buenos Aires, 1807-Madrid, 1865) and José María Díaz (Caracas, 1813-La Habana, 1888) arrived in Spain as young men where they were educated as dramatists. Vega represents the middle class and the academic aspect of the Spanish Romanticism. Díaz could be considered as a real example of an aggressive, sensationalist, passionate sad, rebellious and sentimental Romanticism. These personal differences made their initial friendship fall apart and a progressive confrontation between them.
