La Biblia en la poesía de Quevedo. Notas sueltas

Abstract

Muchos de los escritos quevedianos parten de la Biblia, glosan pasajes, traducen o parafrasean determinados libros de la Sagrada Escritura o articulan su estructura en el marco de la exégesis o el comentario bíblicos. En lo que respecta a la poesía, la utilización de lugares bíblicos (del Antiguo y Nuevo Testamento) es variada y se corresponde con las distintas categorías o géneros poéticos: frecuente en el nivel microtextual, pero sin llegar a ser materia predominante en la poesía moral, escasísima en la poesía amorosa y de elogio, nuclear en la poesía religiosa, y no muy abundante pero sí significativa en la poesía burlesca y satírica. La Biblia es para Quevedo, sin duda, fuente de su pensamiento religioso y moral, y también inspiración fundamental para sus reelaboraciones artísticas. Many of Quevedo’s works are motivated by the Bible; they gloss some passages, translate or explain certain books of the Scriptures or organise their structure according to the exegesis or biblical commentary. Regarding poetry, the use of biblical passages (from both the Old and the New Testament) is diverse and it corresponds to the different categories or poetic genres. It is very frequent in moral poetry, very scarce in love poetry, essential in religious poetry, rare but very meaningful in burlesque and satirical poetry. Without doubt, the Bible is for Quevedo a source of religious and moral thought, and also a fundamental inspiration for his artistic reelaborations.
