Relazione e ontologia in Gregorio di Nissa e Agostino di Ippona

Abstract

Este estudio compara la comprensión de la noción de relación en Gregorio de Nisa y Agustín. En su esfuerzo por presentar el misterio trinitario y defenderlo de los ataques arrianos, los dos modifican el estatuto ontológico de la relación. Ambos autores releen lo creado a la luz del nuevo estatuto de la relación. Para esto resulta particularmente importante la pneumatología, en cuanto que la tercera Persona es la que une la economía y la inmanencia. La diferencia fundamental consiste en que Gregorio inserta la relación en la inmanencia de la sustancia, mientras que para Agustín la relación es un tertium quid junto a la sustancia.

The present study compares the understandings of relation in Gregory of Nyssa’s and in Augustine’s thought. Both authors modified the ontological definition of relation in their presentation of the Trinitarian Mystery and in their response to arianism. So both reread the world in the light of this new understanding of relation. A key moment in this process is their work on Pneumatology, because the third Person links the immanent and the economic dimensions. It seems that according to Gregory of Nyssa relation is within divine substance, whereas according to Augustine relation is a tertium quid next to substance.
