| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | The be11 tower is one of the most important architectonic typologies in the Baroque Navarrese: in this period many localities built a new tower or modi- fied the previous one, becoming a clear reference of their financia1 strenght and the re~i~iousness of their iñhabitants. Although in the last third of the 17th century towers as important as the ones from Tudela or Villafranca we- re built, their true development takes place in the middle decades of the 18th century. Depending on the geographical zone were they are placed, we can establish three typological varieties: towers from de Middle Zone, related to works of the same kind from the Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, as the archi- tects working in them are frequently the same; towers from the middle va- lley of the River Ebro, reationed with examples from Aragon and Rioja, in- corporating sometimes a common geometrical decoration; and towers raised in the northern valleys of the region, related, because of their emplacement as well as of their architectonic configuration, to solutions employed in Gui- puzcoa and Biscay. | es_ES |
