Abstract

Navarra global y Greco centenario: o cómo fijar la imagen de un mito artístico en la memoria colectiva Este trabajo profundiza en los mecanismos desarrollados para fijar en la memoria colectiva navarra la imagen del Greco, en un proceso que atiende a tres grandes áreas de actuación. La primera de ellas se detiene en los textos y conferencias que han abordado la figura del Greco en Navarra desde la década de 1920 hasta nuestros días. La segunda recoge la presencia del pintor en tres exposiciones colectivas celebradas en Pamplona entre 1993 y 2005, así como en colecciones particulares navarras. Finalmente, comprobamos su influencia en los artistas navarros o vinculados profesionalmente a la Comunidad Foral, adoptando un criterio generacional que arranca del despertar a la modernidad a finales del siglo XIX y avanza hacia los artistas de mediados del XX y de la segunda mitad de siglo hasta nuestros días, para constatar la asimilación de la estética del cretense y los diversos resultados en su posterior reinterpretación que atiende tanto a cuestiones técnicas como conceptuales.

Global Navarre and El Greco’s centenary, or how to set the image of an artistic myth in the collective memory This paper explores the mechanisms developed to set the image of el Greco in the Navarrese collective memory, in a process that attends to three main areas of action. The first one analyzes the texts and conferences that have addressed the figure of el Greco in Navarre since the 1920s to the present day. The second picks up the presence of the painter in three exhibitions held in Pamplona between 1993 and 2005, as well as in private Navarrese collections. Finally, we check his influence on Navarrese artists or linked professionally to the Foral Community, adopting a generational approach that starts from the awakening to modernity to the end of the 19th Century, and advances to artists from the middle and the second half of the Twentieth Century to the present day, to verify the assimilation of the aesthetics of the Cretan painter and the different results in its subsequent reinterpretation which attends technical and conceptual issues.
