Aproximación a un fotógrafo y pintor desconocido: Fr. Pedro de Madrid, Pedro Satué, Foto Antsa

Abstract

Este trabajo pretende ser una aproximación a un fotógrafo y pintor prácticamente desconocido, y trazar una secuencia biográfica hasta ahora inédita: Fr. Pedro de Madrid-Pedro Satué-Foto Antsa. Este polifacético artista (Madrid, 1880-1936) se inició en las técnicas pictóricas y fotográficas en el colegio capuchino de Lekaroz (Navarra), mostrándose como un hábil copista de Murillo y resultando triunfador en el Certamen Fotográfico-Social celebrado en Pamplona en 1912 con su colección de caseríos vascos del Baztán. Tras secularizarse y recuperar su nombre civil, desarrolló su labor profesional como fotógrafo al frente de un estudio abierto en 1924 en Madrid, especializándose en el retrato artístico y colaborando en las revistas ilustradas más importantes de la época.

This paper aims to be an approximation to a virtually unknown photographer and painter, and at the same time draw a hitherto unpublished biographical sequence: Fr Pedro de Madrid-Pedro Satué-Foto Antsa. This versatile artist (Madrid, 1880-1936) began in the techniques of the pictorial and photographic language in the Capuchin College of Lekaroz (Navarra). There he revealed himself as a skilful copyist of Murillo and succeeded in the Photographic-Social Competition held in Pamplona in 1912 with his collection of Baztan Valley farm - houses. Once secularized, he recovers his civil name and develops his professional work in the Studio opened in Madrid in 1924, specializing in artistic portrait and collaborating with the most important magazines of the time.
