Neocatolicismo, carlismo y democracia

Abstract

In Spain, Liberalism triumphed early without achieving a broad level of social legitimacy; which also hindered the advent of the demoliberal regime. Throughout the 19th century, the anti-Liberal rebellion focused on Carlism lacked specific political doctrine. It was the neo-Catholics, heirs of the political approaches of Jaime Balmes and Juan Donoso Cortés, who managed to articulate and vulgarize a traditionalist political project, which would have it greatest development in the face of the triumphant democratic revolution in September 1868. A political project that would have its renovation in the twentieth century Spanish.

En España, el liberalismo triunfó de forma temprana sin conseguir un amplio nivel de legitimidad social; lo que igualmente obstaculizó el advenimiento del sistema político demoliberal. A lo largo del siglo XIX, la rebeldía antiliberal se centró en el carlismo. Sin em-bargo, en sus comienzos el carlismo careció de una doctrina política específica. Fueron los neocatólicos, herederos de los planteamientos de Jaime Balmes y Juan Donoso Cortés, quienes consiguieron articular y vulgarizar un proyecto político tradicionalista, que tendría su mayor desarrollo frente a la revolución democrática triunfante en septiembre de 1868. Un proyecto político que tendría su renovación en el siglo XX español.
