Amistad, Sumo Bien y sociedad ética en Kant

Abstract

En este breve artículo trataremos de argumentar a favor de que los conceptos de ‘amistad moral’, ‘Sumo Bien’ y ‘sociedad ética’ están interrelacionados de un modo muy específico. Veremos que la correspondencia entre el deber de amistad y el deber de promover el Sumo Bien es una correspondencia muy particular que no se puede trasladar a casos como la relación que puede haber entre el deber de beneficiencia y el Sumo Bien. Es verdad que, al cumplir con el deber de beneficencia, los hombres promueven una cultura moral. Sin embargo, la unión en la que consiste la amistad no refleja solo la existencia de una cultura moral entre los hombres, sino la de una sociedad ética.

In this brief paper, we will try to argue that the concepts of ‘moral friendship’, ‘Highest Good’ and ‘ethical society’ are interdependent. As we will see, the duty of friendship corresponds to a way of promoting the Highest Good among human beings and this correspondence doesn’t take place by the fulfillment of other duties of virtue such as that of beneficence. It is true that, by fulfilling the duty of beneficence, human beings promote a moral culture. However, the union in which friendship consists doesn’t only reflect the existence of a moral culture among humans, but that of an ethical society.
