El exilio interior desde París: Los premios y El coronel no tiene quien le escriba

Abstract

El tema del exilio aparece de forma recurrente en la narrativa hispanoamericana del siglo XX. Así, son muchas las perspectivas que sobre este fenómeno se plasman en las novelas de los escritores exiliados. El propósito de este trabajo es realizar un análisis de la idea de exilio interior a partir de las representaciones que Julio Cortázar y Gabriel García Márquez plantean en sus novelas Los premios y El coronel no tiene quien le escriba, escritas durante el exilio voluntario de ambos autores en París a comienzos de la década de 1960. El exilio interior refiere en las dos novelas a la situación de aislamiento que los personajes experimentan y que da lugar a un distanciamiento con respecto de las sociedades en la que viven. De igual forma, se analizarán las diferencias existentes entre la situación de los autores y las nociones del desarraigo que estos representan en sus ficciones.

The theme of exile appears recurrently in twentieth-century Hispano-American narrative. Thus, there are many perspectives on this phenomenon in the novels of exiled writers. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the idea of internal exile based on the representations presented by Julio Cortázar and Gabriel García Márquez in their novels Los premios and El coronel no tiene quien le escriba, written during their voluntary exile in Paris in the early 1960s. In both novels, internal exile refers to the situation of isolation that characters experience and which results in a distancing from the societies in which they live. Moreover, the differences between the situation of the authors and the notions of rootlessness that they represent in their fictions will also be analysed.
