Grafías "coa-, goa-, quoa-" en documentación tardomedieval vizcaína (Bermeo)

Abstract

Entre los rasgos propios del romance navarro se encuentra, como puede atestiguarse en la scripta notarial desde época medieval, el uso de las grafías de velar seguidas de oa, como representantes, en principio, de /kwa/ y /gwa/. Algunos de los aspectos considerados navarros presentes están presentes en documentos vizcaínos de fines de época medieval. Ahora bien, la presencia de estas grafías en la documentación vizcaína no implica contradicción alguna con la atribución de los mismos al romance navarro. De esta forma, este artículo pretende analizar este fenómeno en el marco de la documentación vizcaína y más concretamente de la villa de Bermeo y seleccionando para ello 30 documentos originales correspondientes al periodo comprendido entre los años 1237 y 1531. Among Navarre’s Romance own features we find, as it can be attested by the notarial scripta from the middle ages, the use of the velar spelling followed by oa, representing, in principie, /kwa/ and /gwa/. Some of the considered Navarre’s of these spellings are present in the late medieval Biscay’s documents. Well then, the presence of this spellings in the Biscay’s documentation does not involve any contradiction the ascription of them to the Navarre’s Romance. Thus, this paper attempts to analyze this phenomenon in the contexto f Biscay’s documentation and more concretely in that of the town of Bermeo, selecting for this purpose 30 original documents Turing the period ranged from 1237 to 1531.
