The purpose of this paper is to examine, from the point of view of C. S. Peirce's categories, the question whether there are real possibilities, such as those that are implicit in any moral statement suggesting that we could have acted differently. An inquiry into these categories shows that, according to Peirce, real possibilities are the truthmakers of a particular sort of general conditional statements.es_ES
