- Una estrategia eficaz para fomentar la cooperación(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2001) Lara, S. (Sonia)Some meta-analysis studies that show the efficacy of Cooperative Learning in comparison with competitive or individual learning are analyzed. Efficacy is based on the following data: achievement, high levels of reasoning, time required to accomplish the task, transference of learning, intrinsic motivation, cognitive and social development, personal interactions, friendship, reduction of stereotypes and prejudices, mental health, self-esteem, social competencies, internalization of values and the quality of the learning environment. All the available data suggest that it is a strategy that can respond to the challenges that come with globalization.
- Voluntariado: 2001, proyecto global de acción(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2001) Bernal-Martínez-de-Soria, A. (Aurora)The proclamation of the year 2001 as the International Year of Volunteers is aimed at recognising, promoting, facilitating and improving volunteer services. It is a universal phenomenon that is spreading and can resolve the negative consequences of globalisation. It is considered to be an effective mean of obtaining the participation of all members in the positive development of society. Volunteering constitutes a mean of social education.
- La globalización: germen de la sociedad solidaria(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2001) Rodríguez-Sedano, A. (Alfredo)A discussion of the thesis that a global world is essentially a society based on solidarity. Globalisation places us in the sphere of opportunities and alternatives, thereby emphasising the intrinsically social nature of globalisation. However, these opportunities and alternatives would count for little if they did not imply a greater participation. This involves realising that the opportunities and alternatives are of a summoning nature to congregate and gather together those who enjoy a common dignity in its different manifestations. However the summons would not be effective if it were not discovered. Education plays a star role in this discovery. There is finally a brief discussion: really, in a globalised world, is what is to come a knowledge society or a society based on solidarity?
- Globalización: nuevas prácticas educativas(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2001) Reparaz-Abaitua, C. (Charo)ICT resources applied to educational diversity facilitate new intervention formulas in the teaching-learning processes. The present work gathers data from a series of school on-line practices for the learning of Natural and Social Sciences, as well as data from collaborative learning experiences. Also, this work studies web potential for in-service training of teachers. On-line training overcomes many of the shortcomings and difficulties of inservice training, thanks to its easy access, management and storage of information, as well as to the possibilities it offers for synchronic and diachronic communication.
- La educación (moral y cívica) en una sociedad globalizada(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2001) Naval, C. (Concepción)In general, globalisation is understood to be working as a unit, eventually, on a planetary scale, through networks of interconnections. A variety of standpoints have developed with regard to this novel phenomenon. There is no doubt that technological advances are changing our lives, the life of each one of us; that the virtual revolution – if it can be so called – is affecting us whether we like it or not: it has some costly personal consequences. What are the challenges of education in a globalised world, in the knowledge society? How can globalisation and diversity be combined? Is to globalise the same as to homogenise? How can citizenship be connected to diversity? What is or could be the role of the media and the new information and communication technologies in this process? Why is the reaction to the accelerated process of globalisation, a strengthening of the need for identity?
