This research study aims to approach the conceptions and knowledge of History students about different aspects in relation to sexual inequality in ancient Rome. By means of the elaboration and implementation of a questionnaire based on a Likert rating scale, the reactions of the students are analysed. The propositions offered to the students address aspects such as inequality in the access to political power structures, legal rights or the economic activities developed by women in the Roman period. The student’s responses reveal that these are aspects barely included in the university programmes on ancient Rome, which have been traditionally characterised by an androcentric bias as it occurs also in many other areas of knowledge. These results also highlight the necessity to continue developing knowledge about the historic inequality between women and men and also of the incorporation of this knowledge in the study programmes.

The interest in bringing archaeology to people has produced projects which have integrated different Roman roads within museums, touristic projects or cultural itineraries, with different levels of coherence, historical accuracy and social reception. In this paper, I briefly outline the state of affairs of the study of the viae, due to the shortage of general studies dedicated to the processes of excavation and research, and I also try to explain the different value enhancement processes of viae for improving public understanding and appreciation of their historical relevance and sociocultural significance.

We analyse here the presence of criptoportica in the Hispano‐Roman forum architecture, considering the different sites where it is possible to see these structures. Through these cases, we are going to try to establish if they fit the typological models proposed by E. M. Luschin. We are also going to study how the topography has an impact on the construction of these ensembles, and to establish if it was a necessary architecture for the development of the Hispano‐Roman fora. In addition, we are going to analyse which sort of buildings were situated in the upper stage of the substructure, in order to establish parallelisms between the different ensembles.

Las murallas como paradigma urbano. Investigación y diacronía en "Corduba" (ss. II-VII d.C.)
(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2016) Vaquerizo Gil, D. (Desiderio); Ruiz Bueno, M. (Manuel)
The growing number of studies about late Roman defenses in Hispania has not involved a better understanding of the walls in the Roman province of Baetica. Consequently, the aim of this paper is to fill this gap at least partially through the analysis of the documentation found in some urban centres, with particular attention to Cordoba, the city where our archaeological research is being carried out day‐to‐day. In this paper, we will study not only those transformations identified in the wall perimeter of Corduba between the 2th and 7th centuries AD., but also their framing within the frame of Baetica and Hispania. Besides, we have also taken into account the inherited challenges of the wall‐circuits, which are especially complex in the historic cities.

(Servicio de Publicaciones de la Universidad de Navarra, 2016) Mata-Soler, J. (Judit)
We present a synthesis based on the main archaeological evidence of urban transformations in Hispania Citerior. The chronology is determined by the beginning of the process that led to the creation of Late Antiquity cities, while the selection of urban landscapes is sustained by the state of preservation and research of their public building programs, considering also regional, political, administrative, economical and legal heterogeneity.

Archaeological interventions in Braga in the last 40 years provided enough data about private architecture on the roman city of Bracara Augusta between the first century and late antiquity, acknowledging the evolution of several buildings and blocks. Through available database we aim to analyze all the knowing domus, characterizing each space and their functionality, as well as their architectonical evolution. It’s also pretended to realize how provincial elites assimilated italic housing models and managed architectonical solutions. For what, we’ll proceed to analyze Bracara Augusta’s roman domestic architecture as spotlight to everyday life and sociability in roman cities from northwest Iberian. In this way, our purpose is to value roman domus from architectonical but also economic and social perspectives.
