We analyse the legal nature in International law of the autonomous Catalan authorities’ attempt to secede from Spain and create and independent Catalan Republic. For that purpose we consider the legality and legitimacy of the 1978 Spanish Constitution and its consequences for international law. In Belgium or Germany the internal judges have broken international and European law and they have not understood the nature of the phenomenon.
