El Caín de Quevedo entre exégesis e iconografía

Abstract

El artículo propone el análisis del poema quevediano «Caín, por más bien visto, tu fiereza». Este poema está basado en el pasaje del Génesis, 4, 13-16 y presenta dos temas cuya tradición se va a detallar: el asesinato de Abel con una quijada (de asno según la leyenda más común) y la aceptación del sacrificio de Abel por parte de Dios. Así se demuestran los profundos conocimientos de Quevedo en el campo de la iconografía bíblica y su gran sensibilidad del artista frente al texto revelado. The article tries to analyse the poem «Caín, por más bien visto, tu fiereza». This poem is based on a passage from the Genesis, 4, 13-16, where two topics, whose traditions are going to be traced, are detailed. First, the murder of Abel with a jawbone (of a donkey following the most common legend) and the acceptance of Abel’s sacrifice by God. In this way, it is clearly proved Quevedo’s deep knowledge and his great sensibility with the biblical text.
