Erwin Heilbronner: el ‘tipo fundamental’ en Ibiza, 1935-1936

Abstract

Este artículo se centra en el estudio del trabajo de investigación sobre la arquitectura rural realizado por Erwin Heilbronner durante su periodo en Ibiza. Tras formarse en los círculos centroeuropeos del arte y la arquitectura, el arquitecto y pintor alemán, encontró en Ibiza algo más que un refugio. Apenas se había instalado, cámara y libreta en mano, realizará un exhaustivo análisis de las casas campesinas diseminadas a lo largo de la isla. Su discurso gráfico, fotográfico (en parte inédito) y escrito sobre la arquitectura rural de la isla, se puede considerar como uno de los primeros estudios propiamente tipológicos de esta arquitectura del mediterráneo en claves modernas. Apoyado en referencias a algunos discursos sobre tipología del siglo XIX, XX y XXI de Quincy, Argan, Rossi, Moneo, Forty, … este artículo busca valorar la contribución realizada por Heilbronner entre 1935 y 1936.

This article will study the research work done on the rural architecture by Erwin Heilbronner during his stay in Ibiza. After his contact with the Central European circles of art and architecture, the German architect and painter found in Ibiza something more than a refuge. Once arrived and installed, Heilbronner started to visit the rural areas of the Balearic Island, always carrying his camera and notebook, making an exhaustive analysis of the peasant houses scattered throughout the territory. His graphic, photographic (partly unpublished) and written discourse about the island’s rural architecture, can be considered as one of the first typological studies on this particular Mediterranean architecture in modern terms. Based on the reference to some of the theories on typology written during the 19th, 20th and 21st Century by Quincy, Argan, Rossi, Moneo, Forty, … this article seeks to assess the value of Heilbronner’s contribution between 1935 and 1936.
